The 2023 Cochrane review of 17 randomised trials found blue-light-filtering lenses probably make no difference to eye strain from screens, and the College of Optometrists says the same. What an amber lens does do, physically, is absorb blue light in the 400–500 nm band rather than reflect a little of it like a clear lens — which raises contrast, cuts glare, and takes the harsh edge off a bright monitor. That is what you will feel.
